Fashion-ing The Unfashionable

There are many unfashionable situations we encounter throughout our lifetime. Whether it be attending a school that implements uniforms, going camping, being in hospital or travelling. But, Dolls, there is never an excuse to let an unfashionable situation be the root cause of an unfashionable appearance with the Waldorf's! Fashion must always be our number one priority and I know exactly how you can achieve success in your endeavours and luckily, I love to share gossip...

I once saw a quote that said your body is the only home that you have to live in and I believe it's a beautiful reminder that just like we would our houses, we have to be clean and respectful, yet also add pizazz and decor! My favourite way to add decoration to the home that is my body is with tattoos. The controversy surrounding the topics is completely understandable considering their permanent nature and luckily, there is an ancient Indian tradition called 'henna' which is a not-so-permanent solution. There are many intricate designs from floral to traditional, and whatever you chose, it won't matter in 2 to 3 weeks when the mixture completely fades. They add beauty to any outfit, but henna is especially significant in moments when choosing a complement-worthy outfit isn't appropriate for the occasion.

I also adore (as my long-term Shopaholics are entirely aware of!) an elaborate fresh manicure. Slender fingers are achieved with the addition of acrylic tips and make any average situation a glamorous one.

My final decorative advice is sealed with the choice of jewellery that only a royal dutchess could choose. Whether you opt for the delicate and traditional look of a French Queen with sterling silver, diamonds and pearls or a more Roman look with emeralds, rubies and gold, your boring school uniform will soon be the cause of turning heads!

It is with lived experience, that I can confidently affirm the following statement:

When it comes to footwear, you don't have to choose comfort over fashion!

The lived experience I am lucky enough to have had is a result of the kindness of my boss. As my Dolls know, I am a loyal and devoted employee of a famous Australian pyjama brand and let's just say that pink, embellishments and cuteness are key components of every design. I was gifted soft, fluffy & baby pink slippers that are bedazzled in pearls and diamonds, renouncing my understanding of comfort equating to un-fashionable! Appropriately, I've begun wearing slipper-style footwear intended for streetwear and sandal-style footwear because a pretty Doll deserves to look ravishing without the torture of blisters and raised heels.

Layers, layers, layers! It's what my exceptionally kind mum would teach me during the Winter months to ensure that I'd remain warm throughout the day. But later, I learnt that our outer shell is like a blank canvas that's begging to be painted with the most beautiful colours & patterns. My first obsession with a layer was a peach, cotton & polka dot cardigan I owned at 7 and my latest obsession with a layer is the coziest fluffy, noir zip-up jumper that my grandma graciously let me keep upon my incessant gaze and pleading comments. So whether it's cardigans, pullovers or coats, I implore you to explore the rainbow. My prioritising recommendations are:

  • Delightfully soft, knitted pullover jumpers in pastel shades.

  • Plain black, cotton button-up cardigans or puffer jackets (they go with everything for every un-fashionable occasion!)

  • Delicate pullovers with fuzzy textures.

As always, Dolls, I leave you with juicy goss, the most reliable stylistic advice and a perfect, glossy kiss.
