Kisses To Me, From Me

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

Shopaholics, I have taught you many things from Eating Disorders to Love to Makeup to Fashion and the underlying message is that you are your forever love. You are the spaghetti to your meatball. You are the Princess to your Frog! Le maquillage routines are a serious topic, Dolls and predictably, I advise you to begin doing makeup for YOU. The only person you should be thinking of as you make your lips juicy, glossy & pink is yourself. Kisses To Me, From Me is dedicated to crafting the perfect le maquillage ritual just for you. You deserve a good night's kiss every night of the week, Dolls!

A SMOOCHY ROUTINE

The initial code of conduct for a passionate le maquillage smooch is all in the setting. Picture a delectable medium-rare Steak Frites drizzled with garlic-herb butter and seasoned with truffle salt. Now picture a table for two avec Brad Pitt but the table for two is a table for one where the table is a cardboard box, the seat is a milk crate and the fine dining is a fish market's dumpster. My point, Dolls, is that the tools are irrelevant if the space where you're using the tools isn't as pretty as you! Nothing helps me get into a le maquillage trance like a soundtrack to match my SOM (state of mind). Dolls, advice is my forte and musical advice is my bitch so I've dutifully broken it down for you. A le maquillage trance should be accompanied by:

  • Soul music for a relaxed SOM: The sweet voices of Aretha Franklin or James Brown

  • Hip hop for a motivated SOM: Peter Piper by Run-DMC or anything Lauryn Hill

  • Classical for a princess SOM: Together by Austin Farwell or Congratulations by Mac Miller

The next codes of conduct are an immaculate vanity and a heavenly powder room that smells of sea-salt caramel, coconut & vanilla. Organisation is your second best friend, your first being my Blog (Duh!). Investing in multiple crystal glass bowls to categorise products and ceramic holders for makeup brushes will become your guiltiest pleasure. I advise you to categorise your products into three crystal glass bowls: Eyes (eyeshadows, brows, eyeliner, mascara), lips (lip liners, lipsticks, lip glosses, lip balms) & face (primer, bronzer, foundation, highlighter, contour, blush, concealer, setting powder). A Tahaa Affair by Glasshouse is my newfound love affair, Dolls and like me, your infatuation with the scent will only grow.

Now that you have a candlelit table for two with Brad Pitt, you can begin to enjoy your Steak Frites, Dolls but your Steak is your signature colour and your Frites are your most trustworthy brand.

SIGNATURE COLOUR

Your favourite colour and your signature le maquillage colour are entirely different and it's key that you don't get the two confused, Shopaholics. For instance, my favourite colour is obviously pink but my signature le maquillage colours are neutral undertones and detailing using warm pink & red. Colour preferences in le maquillage refer to a broad colour palette, not a singular shade! Use this as a guide:

  • Fair skin = warm & nude tones

  • Medium skin = golden & toffee tones

  • Dark skin = brick-toned brown

Once you have your base, you can gather preferences for singular shades when it comes to the details of le maquillage (lips, eyeshadows, blushes). Warm pink & red are my signature lip, blush & highlighter shades. Many redheads go for a bright red lip and many blondes go for blue eyeshadow. The signature colours you prefer for detailing are up to you, Dolls and this only comes with time, experience and trial & error. So get browsing, get shopping and get spending(in that particular order), Shopaholics!

WOULD YOU LIKE TONGUE WITH YOUR BRAND?

Dolls, the french kiss isn't for everyone but you know what is for everyone? Having a go-to brand. The interesting thing about le maquillage shopping is the diversity and lack of consistency. I am frequently surprised by my ability to find faults with products made by luxury brands, yet find quality & effectiveness with smaller, cheaper brands. A french kiss is a dish best served with a lover. A french kiss that starts at 2 am with vodka breath and a blurry figure that resembles a human is probably going to end in something very wet and very messy. But a french kiss that starts with a good foundation, when you already know how your lips interlock, is when the addition of tongue ends in excitement and interest. Similarly, shopping for le maquillage products that will be staples in your routine is extra challenging when you don't already have a sexy beau you've locked lips with before...

  1. Shop around just enough to recognise the most common denominating brand of the products you love

  2. Make all future shopping around less ambiguous by shopping around within your newfound common denominating brand

Dolls, now your likelihood of finding successful le maquillage products you're obsessed with is at 80% instead of 40%. You've halved the workload and doubled the fun!

Shopaholics, I've given you the confessions of the highest calibre in this Blog Post so it would be rude to not put them to good use. I hope to see my Instagram DM's, Blog Chats & Emails from all of my sweet Shopaholic subscribers flooded with the juicy rundown of their favourite brands, products and sexy goodnight kisses to themselves! Kisses,

COS x
