One, Two, Three... Shopaholic-cheese!

Dolls, I want to give you my top three Shopaholic obsessions to turn that frown, Shopaholic style, upside down! I have all the tools in my pink toolbox to make every moment of your life worth smiling for.

A DIY BEAUTY ROUTINE

A true Shopaholic Doll doesn't just wear the most beautiful makeup and dress in the best quality clothes. They have rituals and methods, allowing their beauty results to be consistent, predictable and achievable. Over the years, I've found that the only way to establish a beauty routine that's been beauty-ful beyond failure is when DIY(Doing It Yourself)-ing my le maquillage and la mode. I've never related to my friends or online influencers because my understanding and execution of beauty have remained limited. I used to feel embarrassed to say I loved beauty when I didn't know much about it.

But the moment I stopped viewing my routine as a weakness, was the moment it became my strength.

Initially, I was buying products and brands that were trending, not that I wanted or needed. To save hundreds of dollars and to be absolved from the pressures of adhering to stigma and assumptions by the beauty community/industry, I allowed myself to buy products I liked, whether or not others had labelled them as 'cheap' or generic brands.

There are two different things I did to DIY my routine...

  • #1 The units of product others had were significantly more than what I felt necessary for me. So when I tried organising my products like others, I was left with lots of empty spaces from what I either didn't own or didn't own as much. I began to arrange things my own way, DIY. I decorated my bathroom with antique glass jars, tealight candles for lighting that my parents gifted me and empty cocktail glasses that my friend and I painted with sweet love hearts, polka dots and cherries.

  • #2 My skin is hereditarily acne-free, smooth and soft. Applying skincare products makes my skin more prone to acne and redness! However, most people deal with acne. Therefore, establishing a thorough skincare routine is essential to include in their beauty routine. Discovering this about myself meant I didn't have to dedicate my money to what I didn't actually need.

HANDBAG

The best handy-woman toolkit of a Shopaholic Princess is her handy handbag. You can tell a lot about a woman by what's hidden in her purse. So, it only makes sense that the place where one stores their most personal and prized safekeeping is selected carefully. I'm a firm believer in owning multiple handbags to cover every situation, from the most fashionable to the least. There should be a handbag for accessibility, modesty and luxury.

Accessibility

This handbag is your most spacious & most comfortable. I have a big, loose, black handbag that fits everything I need for a full day: a jumper, my makeup, chewing gum, laptop and/or a drink. Yes, it's functional. No, that doesn't mean it's fugly. There is never an excuse for a fugly handbag, Dolls. I recommend choosing an accessible handbag that is just one colour so that it can coordinate with a variety of everyday outfits.

Modesty

The modest handbag is a medium size that can fit a few key essential items, but equally, serves an aesthetic purpose. Its aesthetic should pair perfectly with the colour scheme of your signature look. The majority of my everyday looks involve white and black which is why my Louis Vuitton, cream and maroon handbag is my modesty handbag of choice.

Luxury

The luxury handbag comprises 95% pretty, 5% necessity and its colour coordination must be perfect. That 5% is of the least importance, vouching for two essential units MAX such as your phone & lipgloss. The luxury handbag goes beyond outfit complementation. Its purpose is to accentuate your outfit to its fullest potential. My favourite is my Brandy Melville, off-the-shoulder, mini leather purse.

YOU'RE TOE PRETTY!

Pedicures are something I only get done every 2-3 months for a few reasons:

a) It takes a long time for my toenails to grow out &

b) people touching and looking at my feet gives me the ick!

When I do get a pedicure, I make a day out of it. Getting my legs and feet massaged and moisturized feels completely luxurious because when I get my fingernails done, it's just an infill without the nice-smelling lotions, balms and oils. My personal favourite colours that compliment anything and everything are deep red, OPI bubblegum mixed with funny bunny, nude or a French pedi!

Wow, Dolls, I must say your smile after reading, implementing and adhering to my Shopaholic threes is Shopaholic-perfect. Ok, get ready for the picture: One, Two, Three... Shopaholic-cheese!

Kisses,
