SHUT THE FRONT DIOR!

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

Sweet Shopaholics, le maquillage is a Doll's greatest ally when applied with knowledge and a dose of TLC. Thankfully, we've had the most beautiful influences of beauty over the decades creating iconic makeup looks for us Shopaholics to model. When stuck in one era of le maquillage, we forget about the previous decades of le maquillage evolution which is a tragedy considering our ancestors led the pathways for our icons today. Now, those eras of le maquillage are as equally jaw-dropping as they were then. With the help of Dior, everyone in the street will say 'SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!' when they're blessed with the iconic beauty look that you chose to reinstate!

1940s RUBY RED LIP

My 19th birthday was convoluted at best. Everyone tried salvaging it but it was too doomed to be salvaged. I saw my best friend a week later, and she greeted me with the sweetest Shopaholic bag of Dior, Chanel and vintage clothes and the Dior red lipstick is the most spectacular colour I've worn to this day! The 1940s worshipped ruby red lipstick... with the likes of actresses Rita Hayworth and Joan Crawford, the red lip was soon an essential le maquillage item for every woman with sense. Maybe I'm a little biased considering the red lipstick is so much more than a lipstick and is rather a symbol of love, support and genuineness. But bias doesn't interfere with a Shopaholic's intuition... not for this Shopaholic and certainly not when providing a recommendation to another Shopaholic!

THE BEAUTY SPOT

A true shopaholic loves Madonna for a plentitude of reasons, especially her famous beauty mark which was one of the biggest beauty trends of the Marilyn era. Like a good iconic look should do, globally, women drew the mark on their faces to look like Marilyn. Since, we've seen the power of beauty spots as Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Cindy Crawford gracefully put their spots on display for the world to adore and the Shopaholics to relish in. So, Dolls, get your eyeliner ready. It's spotting season!

1960s PAINTED LOWER LASHES

The 1960s icons didn't fuck around when it came to a bold eye look. The biggest names of that era- think Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton- flaunted mascara that was not only applied to their lower lashes but painted on the skin underneath their eyes. The effect of this iconic look is accentuated eyes that paint the prettiest porcelain doll picture for my pretty Dolls!

Le maquillage has distinguished many eras and drawing upon past successions for inspiration and versatility in our modern-day routines is exciting, creative and totally encouraged in the Shopaholic by-laws. Whether it's Madonna or Twiggy that tickles your fancy, never be afraid to be daring because a daring Doll is so much prettier than a basic Doll!
