Winter Wonderland

Dolls, it's the first week of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere which means that it's officially time to refurbish our closets! I love Winter with a passion. Despite the short days, bloody noses and icy air, it's the warmth of heat packs and cups of tea, morning dew on jacaranda trees and fuzzy blankets shared between the family on movie nights that almost complete the wonders of Winter. It is with honour that I confess how you can make your la mode, complete a Winter Wonderland.

When I think of Winter fashion, I think of my Mum. Come Winter, she knitted me handmade scarves and I thought that I was the prettiest girl in school. My mum would re-stock my closet with singlets every Winter to wear underneath outfits. 'Layers Luka, layers!' she would say, making sure that I always felt warm. From a young age, I understood the importance of the practicality of Winter, the necessity of addressing the temperature with a stern face and firm grip. Shopaholics, there's no point wearing a pretty outfit if you can't relish in it. And relishing isn't possible half frozen because all a Doll can think about is a hot bubble bath. Other than layering with singlets, you can insulate with thin tights, Shopaholics!

Fur, fur, fur! A neverending siege of public comments has been made on the topic and for good reason, indeed. Animal rights are no joke and skinning one in the name of fashion is certainly a grand Shopaholic sin, Dolls. Beauty has a price but some prices aren't about dollars, they're about ethics. Unless you're John Snow and Winter has come, you don't have a good enough reason to skin a sweet bunny or brown bear! Luckily, faux fur is amid the fashion scene and it's never been so morally in check to wear an oversized 'fur' coat. If animal really is your thing, opt for alpaca or sheep wool... shears over knives, Dolls!

There's no 'wonder' in a winter wonderland without a darling faux fur coat. A coat is a true statement piece, Dolls, and if you don't own one, you cannot consider yourself to be a Shopaholic. Not only do they guarantee protection against bitter winds but they embody a woman who bestows extravagance, grace and poise. Russian women seem to be so much sexier than us all... perhaps it's their dominant accent or the incredible genetics but I think it's because they're born and raised with fur coats. I spy with my little Russian eye a fur coat made just for you, Dolls! Get shopping!

Whilst your pearly white smiles are super pretty, Dolls, it's the pearls found in molluscs that complete Winter Wonderland la mode. The creamy-coloured spheres make an outfit exceptionally dainty, achieving an expensive facade. When paired with glamorous coats and anything faux fur, a Shopaholic will appear more confident, independent and desirable. What is it about these little drops of heaven that have such a profound impact? I believe it's their simplicity. They aren't fussy and over-the-top but they're equally as pretty and mystical to ogle at.
